Bradford RF Sales provides marketing, sales, and technical assistance in New England
NORDEN Millimeter’s 2-18 GHz Transceiver Norden Millimeter of Placerville, CA introduces their NUDC2-18/1.3-2.3 wideband microwave transceiver in a low SWaP 3U module. It is a dual conversion transceiver providing 2-18 GHz operation in a versatile OpenVPX platform.
Helping Achieve Preferred Supplier Status
We were in the process of gaining significant traction at a major defense customer for one of our principals. The customer issued an RFI that required lengthy pricing, management, technical, quality, and capability summaries. It was end of year and the principal did not have the internal capacity to complete the RFI. Bradford RF Sales met with the various department heads at the principal and generated a template and much of the content for the response. The principal was then able to add in any missing details and submit the RFI on time, which turned into a long-term pricing agreement for a series of microwave assemblies. This then led to several additional program wins for similar hardware and eventual preferred supplier status.
Prospecting at an RF Test Lab turns into a Multiple Site Win
We were engaging with several test development engineers at a large semiconductor components company regarding RF test cable needs. After an initial in-person meeting, it was discovered that multiple site locations for this customer were revamping numerous RF test labs. Bradford RF Sales was able to set up a virtual meeting with engineers from the various customer sites to speak with our supplier’s application specialists to determine the exact RF test cables for each specific site. By taking this approach, a deal that started off with only supplying test cables to one site became a multiple site deal. The supplier ended up providing numerous sets of test cables and the customer was able to realize an overall cost savings based on the quantities ordered. It was a win-win for both the customer and supplier.
One Supplier Win Turned into Two
In setting up a meeting with an engineer at an existing defense customer to discuss specialized RF connectors for a fighter aircraft program, we also were able to identify that some of the connectors would interface with cable assemblies and some would interface with the module. After reviewing our connector supplier’s capabilities and our cable assembly manufacturer’s capabilities, we were able to secure formal RFPs for a number of interconnects including the cables. We beat out incumbent suppliers with a better solution. Our connector supplier was able to secure all of the custom RF connectors and adapters in the design and our cable assembly supplier was successful as well. The ability to offer two complementary suppliers that partnered on the project was very helpful to both engineering and supply chain.
